My Experience with New Beginnings Intervention was one in which I am extremely grateful for. When I contacted an interventionist, I was in a state of desperation. I had a family member whom I love deeply that was at rock bottom. I came to understand the severity of my family members addiction through the evidence I saw unfolding rapidly in their life. I knew if something was not done I would lose them. I was willing to try anything. I called the interventionist and he immediately went to work. Just knowing something was happening that was a step towards a solution alleviated my anxiety slightly. Once I spoke with him a while and heard him talk, just by the way in which he communicated, I knew this person could help me. I decided to go for it. Over the next few days I was in contact with the interventionist. I did the prep work with the family and friends that he asked me to do and we came up with a “plan of action” as he called it. The interventionist did everything. He was able to get my loved one into a center that fit our budget, arranged it in a discreet and efficient manner, and you can tell instantly when working with New Beginnings Intervention, that these are people who understand the severity of the situation once they are assigned to a case! In addition, they are people who will go above and beyond to help you and your family. The feeling I got when working with New Beginnings was that they understood my position, that they too had a deep understanding of the nature of addiction, and that they truly cared about me and my family. The intervention went off without a hitch. My loved one was very angry initially that we gave him this opportunity in what he said was a “sneaky” way. However, it wasn’t three weeks into his treatment that he called and thanked us for what we had done. My loved one has had their struggles since treatment but is alive and sober today. I would highly recommend New Beginnings Intervention and Educational Services to anyone who has a loved one who needs help but might not see it.

Initially I started working with New Beginnings as a coaching client. I had some friends and family who were worried about some of my life choices regarding substance use. In order to get them off my back I agreed to meet with a recovery coach from New Beginnings Intervention. Initially, I had zero intention of working with a recovery coach but was later intrigued by what they had to tell me. The Coach told me about some of his life experiences, seemed to be full of compassion, and somehow knew I had a desire to change which I didn’t even know existed. At that point in my life I was what I would now call a functioning addict. Using daily, miserable, unmotivated, and had zero purpose. I looked forward to nothing in life beyond using drugs and alcohol. Consequently, after my initial meeting and the way my coach was able to frame the problem, I decided that having a few meetings was something I should take the opportunity to do. Unfortunately, as I was beginning my sessions and thinking about making an effort at getting sober, I overdosed and was put in the intensive care unit. My family and friends were traumatized and had no idea what to do. My coach came to see me in the hospital, he held my hand and said some things that I needed to hear. He spoke with my family and was able to provide them with information that was current, correct, and relevant to our situation. When I eventually got released from the hospital I agreed to meet with my coach again. When we met I was greeted by my coach who was now going to be my interventionist. It turns out that part of the conversation that took place while I was in the hospital was that the situation was more desperate then originally anticipated and that immediate action needed to be taken. My coach/interventionist provided my family with information about treatment methods, centers, personal and professional experiences, as well as a level of compassion and professionalism that was second to none. After my Intervention I decided to go to a treatment center in Vancouver B.C. and received some care from a top-notch facility that was able to give me some of the help I needed. Unfortunately, The road hasn’t been smooth ever since. As anyone who has been around addiction knows it is a life long battle. I got nearly a year clean but didn’t keep up with my recovery coaching and my family didn’t choose to attend any of the family coaching classes. Things got much better but regardless I still had a brief relapse. As soon as my family noticed a change in my behaviour again they contacted my coach/interventionist. My coach promptly responded and was able to coordinate with my family a plan of action to get me back on track. I can happily say that since being clean I have met the girl of my dreams, had a beautiful son with her, and acquired a job in a field that I am passionate about, working at the treatment center where I went to treatment! I would highly recommend New Beginning’s Intervention and Educational Services to anyone who is struggling or has a loved one who is struggling with addiction. They will be there for you throughout you trials and tribulations and treat you like one of the family!
